Today we said goodbye to Bolzano and one last look at this pretty amazing elevator in Park Hotel Laurin...if you've seen the movie Pretty Woman "well, color me happy, there's a couch in here for two!" We traveled to Varenna, a coastal town of Lake Como on the eastern shores above Bellagio.
For all you gardeners out there. We saw these hybrid apple orchards for miles and miles along our train route to Lake Como. The tree's are interesting because they are very tall and skinny and produce a huge bounty of fruit.
We are staying in a room with an unobstructed view of the lake, hence the picture at the top of the page. We also had a late evening dinner on a lake front terrace. Dinner tonight consisted of Proscuitto ham, cantaloup and Mojito Granita (interesting as the Mojita ice shaving really elevated the tastes of the melon). Ravioli stuffed with prawns and scallops in a tomato seafood bisque, Guinea fowl and scalloped potatoes and a dark chocolate mousse, with almond praline, chocolate crumbles with a black cherry sauce + a clear night to watch perseids from our terrace with an evening nightcap. On a night like this, we think of our family and friends and wish you were here.
