After testing my physical limits yesterday, we decided to do a 1/2 day today and walk our neighborhood and see just how far certain things are we will visit later.
First we strolled to the Tiber river and visited Ponte Angelo (Bridge of Angels and its castle). Movie buffs will know this from Dan Browns movie "Angels and Demons".
We could glimpse St. Peter's Basilica Dome from the bridge and decided to see how far it was (because its on our list of what to see). It was very busy, as it is a Sunday...not sure if the crowds were tourists or there for Mass (maybe some of each). Either way the lines were long, I was not appropriately dressed (you cannot enter with knees or shoulders exposed) and somewhere along the walk I dropped my mask :(.
The day started beautiful with clear blue skies, but nearing noon the dark rain clouds and gusty winds blew in and we were just as happy to make our way back to our apartment.
I did make one stop on our way back, as a Murano glass shop caught my eye and I just had to stop and look at the pretty colored glass. While at the end of our adventure we will be taking a day trip to Murano (from Venice) to see the glass blowers in action, this whet my appetite.
