Our last day in Perugia started off with an unexpected surprise. Chris and I had just finished breakfast and were waiting for one of the elevators in our hotel to go back up to our room. The doors opened and we stepped aside to let the person exit and out walks Stanley Tucci! I was gobsmacked and did not manage to utter a word until he was 1/2 way down the hallway- then OMG that was Stanley Tucci! I am such a goober ;) I googled information on Stanely Tucci and sure enough he is in Perugia this week to film an episode for season 2 of his hit food/travel show: Stanley Tucci "Searching for Italy". I wish I had the thought to ask him where to eat.
Today we took a long hike to the UPG campus. We passed an Etruscan arch from the 3rd century B.C., a well constructed aquaduct that is now used as a foot path and more stairs than I want to remember.
This town is either up or down, very little middle ground. Chris found the physics department, mingled in the halls with students and got a glimpse of Italian university classes. Meanwhile, I sat on the steps outside and watched a small graduation class come out in caps and gowns, with flowers and balloons and pondered how many steps to reach the 3 churches on the hillside. 🤔
Below are a few pictures of Oratorio di San Bernadino. This church has a facade of pinks and pale greens. The main altar is plain and simple, but if you go past the main altar to the back you find this gold chapel with beautiful oil paintings.
