Scenic Southern Coast of Ireland Day 5 Chris/Kelly

Chris and I chose a scenic southern Ireland tour that included many small towns and villages along the coast and up into the 1st National Forest.  Dorothy was our tour guide, she was born and raised in the area and was a retired teacher- she was great.  We 1st visited the town Kinsale where the Lusitania was torpedoed by Germans, then to the small coastal town of Glengarrif (home to Maureen O'Hara...The Quiet Man/Sons of Katie Elder/The Parent Trap to name a few of her movies).  Then we stopped at Clonakilty for tea & scones and a walk around town, visited the Feagle River, and the tiny town of Bantry before heading inland to Gouganne Barra National Forest and to a tiny inn with a huge and well deserved reputation of great food for lunch.  It was my favorite kind of food, simple yet done & seasoned to perfection.  We had vegetable soup & brown butter, roasted chicken and potatoes w/parsnips, apple crumble. I got to meet Chef Katy and buy her cookbook.  She and cookbook were named best in the world 2021!  Its a souvenir I'll treasure.  I'm not sure I've ever seen a place as picturesque.  We had a small pitstop at Curraglass at the end of our tour.  It was a 10 hr day, but time just flew by.
