Edinburgh Dad/Sandy

The ship docked about 30 minutes outside of Edinburgh at a place called South Queensferry.  All 4 of us visited Edinburgh today, but Dad/Sandy took a bus tour and we did a "go on your own" day.  As we would be back in 3 days time, we wanted to check out our lodgings and get a feel of how best to get around.  We each took quite a few pictures, but of different things.  So it should be a well rounded look at this wonderful city by the end of this blog.

Stuart Melville College on the left and Fette College on the right. What we think of College, they think of University.  So these schools are we what we think of as middle & high schools.  While both are private institutions, Stuart Melville College is only for boys, while Fette College is co-ed.

Regardless of apartment or house, you can always know how many fireplaces a residence has by how many chimney spouts poke up from roof!

There are several important streets in downtown Edinburgh around Edinburgh Castle.  Princes Street that contains many restaurants and high end shops, and The Royal Mile- where is tourist central and starts at Holyrood Palace and ends at Edinburgh Castle.  We visited in probably the busiest time of the year.  The Royal Tattoo performances only happen in the month of August and the world famous fringe festival is also going on.

Lunch at Filling Station- Fish & Chips for Dad, Halloumi           Fries (fried cheese) w/Red pepper sauce for Sandy.
