Nothing in particular on our agenda today except for an evening pipe organ concert.

For a stretch of the legs we headed back across the Tiber into the Trastevere neighborhood, peeked into a church, strolled some streets and finally sat for a lunch of meats, cheeses, tomatoes, olives and walnuts...oh and a side of rosemary foccacia!

Knowing how much my husband loves the sound of a pipe organ (he has fond memories of his Grandmother Bessie).  I searched until I found a church that gave pipe organ concerts and put one in our schedule.

As soon as we left our apartment, we noticed something not quite right.  We could see a hovering helicoper in the distance, and in our taxi ride to the church...the traffic was really backed up.  Turns out it was a anti-vaxx protest with thousands of protesters in Piazza dei Popolo, not many blocks from our choir concert!  The news said the police had to control the crowds with smoke grenades and water cannons.  We were never in any danger and most of the crowds were dispersed by the time we left the concert.

THE CONCERT-

Held in Chiesa Sant'Antonio di Portoghesi.  The Grand Symphonic Organ was originally restored some 15+ years ago by a young man who now holds the title: artistic director of the church, titular organist and director of concerts- responsible for bringing in guest organists from all over the world to perform.  Tonight we heard a guest organist from Germany.  We enjoyed it thoroughly.
