Today is Assumption Day in Italy (national and religious holiday celebrating Mary ascending up to heaven).  So all churches, restaurants, streets and trains are very crowded with people, plus today was 94 degrees with a real feel of 104.  Chris and I made the decision to avoid crowds and heat by visiting some quieter sites of history and art.  First was the Monumental Cemetery, very moving, beautiful sculptures and huge...maybe bigger than our farm.  We seemed to walk forever, and then had a snack on a bench in the shade.

The second place we visited was Sforzesco Castle which is an ancient walled fortress surrounded by a 100+ acre park.  We got lucky today as they had a temporary art exhibit called "From body to soul- Donatello to Michelangelo".  Below are pictures of some pieces that really amazed us.  Some were marble, brass or as in the last picture...wood.
