Orkney Islands, Scotland Chris/Kelly

Today Chris and I decided to do different things.  He was interested in seeing some of the World Heritage Sites on Orkney.  I preferred to see some of the site/services offered at the ship's spa!  We both saw rocks, his were ancient and standing in neolithic designs...I was watching hot smooth stones being applied to my muscles during my massage!. I really like it, when the same things make us both happy!  Chris's tour existed of a visit to the Ring of Brodgar and to the Broch of Gurness.  Both are considered part of the Orkney World Heritage Site.  I mentioned on the earlier page that the Ring of Brodgar are vertical standing stones that may have been used to domestic or spiritual ceremonies.  Thought to have been erected between 2,500-2,000 B.C.The Broch of Gurness looks more like an Iron Age village with a cental opening with stone huts surrounding.  It is estimated that there are at least 50 of these Broch's on Orkney's islands.  They are estimated to be dated between 400-100 B.C.
